Rowan University is a comprehensive state-designated research institution with approximately 14,000 students. Its main campus is located in Glassboro, N.J., 20-miles southeast of Philadelphia, and it has a branch campus and medical school in Camden and a second medical school in nearby Stratford. Rowan is only the second university in the country to offer M.D. and D.O. medical-degree granting programs. The School of Osteopathic Medicine has a faculty practice plan that serves approximately 200,000 patients throughout Southern New Jersey. The institution is also home to the South Jersey Technology Park, which fosters the translation of applied research into commercial products and processes. Its business incubator also supports that mission. The University boasts eight colleges--Rohrer College of Business and colleges of Communication and Creative Arts, Education, Engineering, Graduate and Continuing Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, Performing Arts, and Science and Mathematics—and has been called upon by the state to create a College of Health Sciences.

The Department of Chemical Engineering is searching for a full time tenure-track instructor who has an interest and expertise in teaching chemical engineering courses. In addition, the Freshman and Sophomore level engineering clinics will be part of the teaching responsibilities. Candidates must have a strong foundation in any area of Chemical Engineering.

The candidate should possess a Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering and a Baccalaureate degree from an ABET‑accredited engineering program (or equivalent). In addition, the successful candidate is expected to have excellent written and oral communication skills.

Start Date:  The anticipated starting date for this chemical engineering faculty position will be January  2015.

General Information:

The College of Engineering has innovative Bachelor of Science degree programs in Chemical, Civil, Electrical and Computer, and Mechanical Engineering that emphasize multidisciplinary experiences, teamwork, technical communication, and continuous engineering applications throughout the four years, as well as a Master of Science in Engineering degree program.  The College of Engineering was created through a $100M gift from Henry and Betty Rowan and has continued to expand through the new South Jersey Tech Park.  Further growth is anticipated with the establishment of the newly inaugurated Cooper Medical School of Rowan University.  We have a highly selective student-centered undergraduate program.  At Rowan we have a dynamic engineering college and are looking for faculty with new and innovative ideas.  Multidisciplinary collaborations are a norm at our engineering college.

Major metropolitan areas within the Northeast Corridor are within easy reach of Glassboro.  Philadelphia is a thirty‑minute drive, New York City and Washington, D.C. are less than three hours away, and the Jersey Shore is only an hour drive.

The application must be submitted though our online application system.

Interested candidates are invited to submit a cover letter, resume, statement of teaching interest, and three references.

Review of applications will begin immediately and the deadline date is August 31.
